Our latest Mikelson 43 Zeus is coming together nicely for her new owners. At Mikelson, we strive to build the "perfect boat" for our customers. That is why our customers play an active role in having thier boat "set up" just the way they like it. Here are a few photos of our most recent Mikelson 43 Zeus that is nearing completion.

:: Mikelson 50 Update ::

Here are a few photos of the latest Mikelson 50 being commissioned here in San Diego. Considering that we have had the boat for just under two weeks, we have accomplished quite a bit in a short period of time. Work continues as the fishing and navigation electronics are being installed. The entertainment electronics are being fine tuned as both the salon and master stateroom flat panel TVs are in. A Village Marine 800gpd watermaker has been installed in the engine room. Precision Marine Hardware outriggers are installed.

:: Happy 4th of July :: Mikelson 43 Zeus Update ::

From all of us here at Mikelson Yachts, we wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July holiday weekend! Secondly, a huge THANK YOU to all the brave men and women who currently serve or have served in the armed forces. THANK YOU for your sacrifice and for protecting the freedoms we enjoy.

We have been busy preparing the latest Mikelson 43 Zeus over the past weeks. After a quick engine and pod installation this week, she is back in the water this morning. Over the past week the 800# Steelhead Davit was installed as well as the bow pulpit, swimstep and railing, rocket launchers, and electronics.

Below is a shot of a custom made tilt-out box by Teak Isle, that houses the Zeus joystick control. Not only does the unit look great, but it keeps the unit protected from the marine environment and maximizes the space.

:: New Arrival. Mikelson 43 Zeus ::

It was a late night, but we got the job done. We have another Mikelson 43 Zeus at our docks that will be outfitted over the next several weeks. This will be the seventh Mikelson 43 with the Cummins Zeus pod drive system to hit the water. Stay tuned to the blog as we post more updates. :: Mikelson 43 Zeus Nearing Completeion ::

Our latest Mikelson 43 Zeus is nearing completion. Below is a shot of the flybridge that is nicely outfitted with a pair of Stidd helmchairs. The past week the flybridge carpeting was installed as well as the helm chairs. We are currently wrapping up installation and testing of all the fishing, navigatiion, and entertainment electronics.



Here is a shot of the flybridge and marlin tower with the recently installed enclosure.



Lastly, we wanted to highlight a distinctive feature on a Mikelson. On all Mikelson models the windlass and anchoring system is mounted below deck. As you can see from the picure below the Maxwell windlass is acessed through the deck hatches. There is also fresh and saltwater washdown connections as well.



By having the anchoring system laid out as such you free up the deck space and also protect the system from the elements. At Mikelson we are constantly striving to build better boats that are well designed with safety, convenience, and reliability in mind.

Here is a short video clip, shot on an iphone, while running the boats up from San Diego to Dana Point for the Dana Point Boat Show. As you can see, the Mikelson 43 Zeus is fast, smooth, and extremely agile. Mikelson Yachts is one of the very few boat builders that has integrated the Zeus system into a sportfishing yacht. :: Mikelson 43 Zeus, Salon and Galley ::

This week we would like to showcase the salon and galley of the Mikelson 43 Zeus. The boat is currently being comissioned at our docks in San Diego. The salon and galley on the Mikelson 43 Zeus is very large and open. Mikelson is known for maximizing the use of space on board. There is 360 degree visability out of the salon windows. The salon features a large settee and dinette area that can easily be converted to berths for extra guests or overnight trips.

This boat is equipped with an aft galley with all the ammenities one would need at sea. There is a large stainless steel sink with matching pull out faucet. A Summit refrigerator/freezer that has been beautifully intergrated into the matching cabinetry with wood veneer. A Seaward 2 burner, touch control, cooktop that blends into the countertop. A Sharp convection microwave oven. And lastly, an U-Line icemaker for entertaining or keeping your catch fresh. As you can see from the photos, the carpeting has been installed this week, as well.

:: Mikelson 43 Zeus, Cockpit Features ::

The Mikelson 43 Zeus is back in the water and the engine and pod systems are being tested and fine tuned. This week we wanted to showcase the cockpit of the Mikelson 43 Zeus.



Looking aft, the Mikelson 43 Zeus has a large bait tank system that is integrated into the transom. The bait tank can be subdivided into two tanks, which allows you keep two different kinds or sizes of baits or you can remove the center wall to have one large bait tank. The cockpit also features six Precision Marine rod holders (pictured on both sides of the bait tank). Also, you can see the beautiful teak deck in the cockpit that not only looks great, but keeps the glare down from those memorable days on the fishing grounds.



On both the port and starboard sides of the cockpit we have custom Teak Isle tackle lockers that are engraved with the Mikelson logo. The lockers allow for quick access to tackle in the four standard Plano boxes.





Facing forward in the cokpit, we have the day head and another large tackle center. There is an overhead storage locker with ample room for cockpit electronics and storage. We also have a larger tackle center that is complete with a freshwater sink, storage drawers and shelves.

The day head is another feature that really sets Mikelson apart from other sportfishers. Fishermen on board can stay close to the action while keeping the interior of your boat clean without walking through your salon, wet and dirty, to use the head. The day head also has a Scandvik pull-out freshwater hot and cold shower.

:: Mikelson 43 Zeus, Engine and Pod Install ::

Since the Mikelson 57 is comlpeted, this week we focused on the Mikelson 43 Zeus. The Mikelson 43 Zeus is currently being comissioned at our docks in San Diego on Shelter Island. As you can see from the pictures below, we are currently focusing on the Cummins engine and Zeus pod install. Here is a couple of shots of the engines being lifted and placed into position. The engines easily fit through the engine hatches which makes for an easy installation and also for full access for future maintanence.
